Description:This beauty is perfect to be used as a smudge bowl/ trinket dish or as a fossil addition to your crystal collection, with the unique markings. The Orthoceras is considered to be grounding, opening and healing the Root Chakra to ground one to the earth and channeling healing energies throughout the body and the aura. This fossil’s energy can be useful during meditative practices, as it can instil a sense of connection to the ancient earth and the historic knowledge that is embedded within it.
History of Orthoceras: The fossils that are commonly known as Orthoceras are extinct, “straight-shelled” marine animals (cephalopods), in which dates back 400 million years ago during the Upper Devonian period (interval of the Paleozoic Era). These ancient mollusks/ nautaloids are polished at Morocco keeping the history of the Orthoceras alive through preservation. While their soft bodies were not left intact and preserved in their entirety, their ice-cream shaped shells were fossilised with articulate detail. The distinct colouring was dependent on the minerals that were in the groundwater in the localities where the orthoceras species were found after they died and were discovered on the bottom of the sea floor.
Fun fact: The feet of this prehistoric squid grew out of their heads, yes you read this correctly. These appeared as tentacles that wriggled outside of their shells; however, these were in fact their feet that they used to crawl along the ocean floor and navigate their way while they swam. Today the Orthoceras can only be found in a fossil form.
